KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.69 g, 7 h), Babylon, struck under Stamenes or Archon, circa 324/3. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; in field to left, bird (duck?) to left; below throne, monogram above M. Price 3661. Well centered and with a lovely reverse symbol. A few minor marks and cleaning scratches, otherwise, good very fine.
